TRAVELING TO GENEVA | PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Travel and accommodation
Participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses, and to ensure that they have adequate medical coverage for the duration of their stay in Switzerland. As several other large events will take place in Geneva in April, it is recommended that delegations book their accommodation as early as possible.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), supported by the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), has with generous support from donors established a limited Sponsorship Programme to facilitate the participation of government representatives from low-income and affected states. Arrival in Geneva
A ticket that allows 80 minutes free travel on public transport in the city centre (bus, tram and train) is available at the airport. The ticket machine is at the end of luggage carousel no. 3.
A taxi from the airport to the city centre will cost approximately 35 CHF (15 minute ride). For more information on public transportation in Geneva, visit www.tpg.ch. A free pass for public transport in Geneva for the entire length of your stay can also be obtained at the hotel.
THE INTERSESSIONAL MEETING TO THE CCM
Participation and registration
The Intersessional Meeting to the CCM is open to the states parties, non-state parties, and any interested international and non-governmental organisations.
There is no entrance charge to delegations for participation in the intersessional meeting.
The meeting will be held at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) building, 7 bis avenue de la Paix, Geneva,. The GICHD will provide logistical and administrative support for this meeting. The WMO building is situated at the last stop of bus line n° 1 and n° 11, in the direction of “Jardin Botanique”. The building can be located on the map.
Bus n° 1 can be taken in front of the main train station “Cornavin”. Bus n° 11 can be taken from Place des Nations (connection to trams no° 13 and 15).
Interpretation will be provided in English, French and Spanish.

Please note that side events or meetings that run concurrent to the intersessional meeting are discouraged.
